Object dependencies and clearer search results

The Dependencies tab on an object now shows what depends on it and what it depends on. Direct and indirect dependencies appear separately, with a link to open the graph.

Find and open and reference search now match names regardless of capitalization. Deep search snippets keep matching text together within the search dialog.

Ask AI answers now render Markdown and link to sources by name. Embedded documents stay sharp when you zoom in on the canvas, and reference labels wrap within their cards.

Week of

AI credits per seat

AI credit allowances now depend on your plan and seat count. If you change plans or add seats during a billing cycle, the allowance updates during that cycle. Credit usage also accounts for the model used for each request.

Week of

Relative weights on diagram relationships

YAML relationships can now have a relative weight that controls arrow thickness. Use thicker arrows to distinguish heavier traffic paths within a document. The weight is a rank you assign, with no measured traffic rate or capacity calculation behind it.

Week of

Single sign-on, interviews, and more cloud import

Dashboard cards can now generate a document preview when no saved thumbnail exists. These generated previews load as their cards come into view and use your light or dark theme.

Enterprise organizations can sign in with SAML or OIDC. Admins can require single sign-on, and at least one admin always keeps a way in if the identity provider breaks.

Interviews let you run a system design interview on a shared canvas. Candidates join from a link without an account. Interviewers score against a kit, and the AI helpers draft kits and summarize notes but never score.

Cloud import (Beta) now covers Azure, Google Cloud and Kubernetes clusters as well as AWS.

The Slack app posts document activity to a channel, sends you direct messages, and unfurls Archdocs links.

Each document can have an owner, and the health view flags documents nobody has edited in 90 days, a threshold each organization can change.

Week of

Shared spaces and architecture decision records

You can publish a space as a collection of documents, preview what visitors will see, and manage its share links. Spaces can belong to teams, and the object catalog can show objects within a space.

Hover over a diagram connection to trace it. Click to pin the trace, then press Tab to expand it to connected elements.

Architecture decision records now have a list with status filters and a creation form prefilled with the MADR template. A decision can link to related documents and supersede an earlier decision. Comments, review requests and prose suggestions are available on decision records.

The OpenAPI import wizard lets you choose operations by tag and turn them into endpoint diagrams. Re-import an updated specification into an existing document. You can also import and export Mermaid from the document editor.

An empty dashboard now offers the Cadence sample workspace. Load it to follow the guided tour, then remove the sample content when you're done.

Week of

Version previews and cloud resource diagrams

Version history now shows diagram previews. Open a past version to inspect it without changing the current document, then restore it after confirmation.

Cloud import (Beta) can discover AWS resources across enabled regions and member accounts in an AWS Organization. The setup guide includes CloudFormation instructions, and you can exclude member accounts from an import.

You can select imported resources in the object catalog to create a diagram or add them to an existing document. Resource tags are available as filters. Imported resources link back to their objects from the canvas.

Week of

ERDs, API endpoints, sequence diagrams and YAML editing

ERD entities, REST and gRPC endpoint cards are now native canvas elements. Rows, columns, status codes and parameters are real fields you can edit, not text inside a rectangle. Relationships attach to a specific column. Sequence diagrams are native too: participants and ordered messages you can reorder without redrawing arrows.

You can embed one document inside another, and the embedded copy shows the current version of the source document.

You can edit a diagram's YAML in the document panel, or edit the YAML for a selected element. The editor has syntax highlighting. MCP connections let an agent read and update architecture documents.

Document reviews now have reviewer requests and status badges. Suggest mode lets a reviewer propose canvas changes for the document owner to accept or reject.

Search finds text inside diagrams and opens the matching document. Objects have a detail page with their own documents and a Used in tab that lists the documents referencing them.

Home now shows recent documents and diagram previews. You can move documents into folders within a space and see when someone is editing a document.
