Connect an AI agent

Connect an agent when you want it to read a diagram before changing the system it describes. The hosted MCP server reads and writes ArchDocs documents as YAML.

Server and sign-in

Use this Streamable HTTP endpoint:

https://api.archdocs.io/mcp

ArchDocs uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration. Your client registers itself and opens the browser for sign-in. Complete the browser flow with your ArchDocs account, then return to your editor.

Choose the setup for your client:

The connection is bound to an organization. The current OAuth flow defaults to the first organization returned for your account. If you belong to several, check the spaces and documents returned by the server before you ask the agent to write.

Make the first call

Ask your agent:

Use ArchDocs to list my spaces and documents. Read the YAML for the document I select. Don't change anything yet.

Inspect the tool response to confirm it used ArchDocs. Then ask for the proposed YAML change before approving a write. update_doc replaces a document's YAML; patch_doc changes selected nodes or relationships. Both recompile the document and can affect layout.

The tool reference lists the calls and their inputs. YAML examples show what the agent can write.
