AI credits

Check your organization's shared credit allowance before generating another diagram or asking another question.

Ask AI and diagram generation require the Team plan or above and ai:use.

Included credits

Credits are pooled across the organization. The allowance is a number of credits per purchased seat, shared by everyone. Members don't have individual quotas.

The included allowance renews with the subscription's billing cycle. Unused included credits don't carry over.

What uses credits

Ask AI and diagram generation use the same balance. GitHub bot questions and AI assistance in interviews also draw from that pool.

The charge depends on how much AI work a request uses, so a question or diagram doesn't cost a fixed number of credits. Any request that runs the AI costs at least one credit. A response that can't answer your question or produce a usable diagram can still consume credits.

Diagram generation is charged when the proposed diagram is generated. Regenerating incurs another charge, even if you discard the diagram. Accept and apply doesn't add an AI charge. Requests blocked before AI runs don't use credits.

Balance and overage

Read Credits remaining below an answer or generated diagram. It shows the included credits left for the whole organization. It doesn't count overage. A generated diagram also shows Cost.

For Ask AI and diagram generation, Team stops new requests once the included allowance is exhausted. Business and Enterprise allow billed overage. Any overage cap on the organization stops new requests once it's reached.

The balance and overage cap are checked before a request starts. The full charge is calculated afterward, so an in-progress request can cross the remaining allowance or overage cap.

When AI credits exhausted appears, Upgrade / raise cap opens billing. The button only opens billing. It doesn't change the overage cap, and the billing page has no overage cap control.
