Version history
An earlier saved canvas can show how a diagram looked before an edit. Open version history to inspect it or restore it.
Reading history and previews requires document access and docs:read. Restoring requires docs:write.
Preview an earlier version
- Open the document's three-dot menu and select History.
- In Version history, find an earlier entry. Entries are grouped by day and show an editor name, a time and a thumbnail. Current version appears at the top.
- Hover over an earlier entry and select Preview.
The canvas becomes read-only and shows Viewing an earlier version - read-only. Previewing doesn't replace the shared document or send the old canvas to other editors.
Select Back to current to leave the preview. ArchDocs reloads the current document, including edits made by collaborators while you were looking at the earlier version.
Restore a version
Restoring replaces the whole canvas with the saved version. It doesn't merge selected elements into the current diagram.
- Open History again and hover over the entry you want.
- Select Restore this version.
- Check the confirmation, then select Restore.
Version history holds saved canvas states, not every intermediate edit. For a proposed edit that needs approval before it changes the canvas, use suggestions.
