Codex setup
Add ArchDocs with the Codex CLI:
codex mcp add archdocs --url https://api.archdocs.io/mcp
codex mcp login archdocs
Complete the ArchDocs sign-in in your browser. Codex supports OAuth for Streamable HTTP servers and dynamic client registration.
Check the configuration
Run codex mcp list to see the saved entry. In an interactive Codex session, /mcp shows the active servers.
The CLI and IDE extension share MCP configuration. You can also add the server directly to your Codex config.toml:
[mcp_servers.archdocs]
url = "https://api.archdocs.io/mcp"
Run codex mcp login archdocs after adding it this way.
Check a read
Ask Codex:
Use the ArchDocs MCP server to list my documents. Read the YAML for the document I select, without changing it.
Inspect the returned document ID and YAML. When you're ready to write, ask Codex to show the proposed change first. The tool reference distinguishes replacement from patching.
If the server needs authentication again, repeat codex mcp login archdocs.
These steps follow the official OpenAI MCP documentation, checked on 2026-10-23.
