VS Code setup

In VS Code, open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server. Choose HTTP (HTTP or Server-Sent Events), enter https://api.archdocs.io/mcp and name the server archdocs.

Choose the configuration destination for your workspace or profile. Review the server trust prompt and complete ArchDocs sign-in when the browser opens.

Configure a workspace file

For the VS Code configuration format, add this entry to .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "archdocs": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.archdocs.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Add the entry inside servers if that object already exists. Use the server controls in the file to start it, then follow the authentication prompts. VS Code handles the OAuth browser flow.

Check a read

In an agent chat with MCP tools enabled, ask:

Use the ArchDocs MCP server to call list_docs. Show the result without changing anything.

Expand the tool call to confirm that ArchDocs returned the document list. Organization policy can restrict MCP servers or tool access.
